Transport Museum Wythall is pleased to confirm that Fuzz (John) Townshend, presenter of Car SOS on Channel 4/More 4 and National Geographic, has become a Patron of Transport Museum Wythall (TMW).

Fuzz has enjoyed a lifelong passion for classic vehicles and their restoration with a particular interest in buses. After an apprenticeship with West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive, fondly known as WMPTE, he became a fully-fledged fitter at Stourbridge and then Dudley garages before diverging into a music career, achieving success in the singles and album charts with a number of bands in both the UK and the USA.
He passion for classic vehicles never waned as he returned as a journalist, becoming Technical Editor of Practical Classics before going freelance and starting his own classic car restoration business, Westgate Classics. Spotted by a TV production company, he was soon presenting Car SOS from his new SOS Workshop in Oldbury, West Midlands. Fuzz not only presents Car SOS, he also works with Henry Cole’s team on the Shed and Buried series of shows on Discovery and Quest.
Fuzz is no stranger to TMW, he joined the museum way back in 1981 and was the co-owner of Walsall Daimler Fleetline 118L, subsequently owning two more – Walsall 119L and WMPTE 3913, both now with new owners. He recently acquired Royal Blue Bristol LS, VDV 749.
TMW Chairman Seb Amos said: ‘We look forward to working with Fuzz as the museum continues to grow in stature. His experience in the classic vehicle world, particular in the restoration arena, and his knowledge of the wider sector and its potential media opportunities, will be of great help to the museum’.
Fuzz joins Alan Dedicoat as Patrons supporting TMW into a strong, sustainable future.
