Welcome to Wythall and one of the most outstanding transport museums in the UK. All facets of the museum are staffed by volunteers who you can see around you restoring and maintaining the collections and our site. The Museum was originally set up by the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Trust, formed in 1977 as a registered charity. The museum site, ex RAF Wythall and based in Chapel Lane, was acquired in February 1978. Buildings were opened in 1980, 1990, 2007 and 2012 to meet the Trust's determination to have a roof over all its vehicles and subsequently to display their history.

The halls now accommodate one of the most significant collections of preserved buses in the country where you can follow the history of the corporation fleets and their manufacturers across the west midlands the decades, bringing the story right up to date. In addition to buses we have two Birmingham fire engines and what we believe to be the finest collection of restored battery electric vehicles in the world.

A delightful miniature steam railway, which has been constructed and operated by the Elmdon Model Engineering Society for several decades, is an integrated part of the visitor attraction. To find out more about the railway, click here to visit the separate Elmdon Model Engineering Society website.

The museum is operated by Transport Museum Wythall, a registered Charity Incorporated Organisation.
