Small buses need to be cheap and were usually based on truck designs, which had high production runs.
Bedford was the market leader in the UK and small Guys were mostly exported. This was one of 5 purchased by Douglas Corporation, Isle of Man, which specified the unusually large destination boxes.
They were built in the West Midlands - Guy and Mulliner were based in Wolverhampton and Birmingham respectively.
Preservation
The bus ended its career with Douglas in 1970. It was saved for private preservation and was bought by this Museum in October 1994. Renovation in 2007 included work to the rusted wings and grille, followed by a complete repaint.
