LETTERS TO OMNIBUS
More About Bundy Tubing
Some thirty years ago when I was working in the diesel engine business of W.H.Dorman & Co. in Stafford, we manufactured a range of 3, 4, 6 and 8 litre air-cooled engines. After several visits by the Bundy Tube rep we were persuaded to try out his new high-pressure injection pipes, which he told us were made by wrapping three layers of copper coated steel strip into a tube that then had effectively six layers.
As the tube size was 6mm outside diameter and 2mm bore to carry injection pressure we could not believe what we were being told so he left a sample with nipples formed on the ends.
We asked our metallurgy lab to cut it up, etch it and photograph it. When we saw them we were amazed, not only by the concept of wrapped tubes but by the precision with which they were made. Quite remarkable.
I hope this is of some interest in your pursuit of all things Bundy.

Ted Cheers sent copies of two photos with his letter, but they would be difficult to reproduce on these pages. We seem to have strayed away from Bundy Clocks, which was the original topic, although we would still be interested to discover what, if any, is the connection between the two products.
