X99
We were a little disappointed at the lack of response to the appeal for information about the X99 Birmingham Nottingham service (Omnibus 145). Phil Crook and Andrew Gardner have delved into various sources, but some aspects of the story remain elusive, in particular the development of the Birmingham Tamworth Ashby service before 1928, and then the post-deregulation period. Also, is there anyone out there who worked at Coalville Garage and remembers that end of the operation? We would be pleased to hear from you.
However, the project has led to a suggestion for the Midland Red centenary celebrations in 2004; to run commemorative journeys over both the X98 and X99 routes using the SOS SON and the BMMO S15.
