Omnibus 198 - May 2010
SCHOOLS PROSPECTUS
One area the Museum is seeking to expand is what it can offer schools. Although this received a setback with the untimely death of John Rollings early in 2009, some progress is being made. Alan Shadforth is leading a team of volunteer guides for school visits, including Alwyne Marsden, Roger Brookes and Chris Lees. The first visit in 2010 occurred in mid-March when the Museum was visited by sixty Reception Class pupils from Our Lady Of The Wayside School, Shirley.
So far there is only one other confirmed booking - in May - but other enquiries are outstanding. To promote school visits a leaflet has been produced, which is being made available to visitors in the children's area in the Power Hall in the hope that visiting teachers or interested parents will encourage their school to bring a party. We do know it works the other way round, that children who visit with a school party subsequently bring their parents.
The leaflet is also available via the Museum's website: www.wythall.org.uk/education.pdf
