UNDAUNTED & UNDENTED

Restoration of Walsall full-front Leyland PD2 no.815 continues with the team undaunted by its various challenges.

John Arnold has done a superb job of knocking the dents out of 815's front dome and we can start thinking about permanently fitting the front windows. Though signwriter and fellow Walsall enthusiast Steve Evans did suggest we left the dents in place as an original feature found on all Walsall buses, including the single-deckers!

Another long-term issue that has been resolved is the missing fuel tank. This was removed several years ago to replace the damaged tank on the Trent Leyland PD2. It was planned to repair the Trent's tank for 815, but somehow it's been mislaid! So Alex Potts removed the tank from the 1685 Group's ex-Lytham PD2 and John James arranged for it to be refurbished. On its return, Geoff Hodkinson gave it a coat of chassis silver and Alex was on hand to fit it in to 815 and start the bus up just to prove everything was working.
