WYTHALL WINNERS!

The 'Solihull News' has given extensive coverage to stories about Midland Red, and to the Museum, from the end of January through to the end of May. This included a competition, with the winners getting a ride to and from the Museum, and free entry too. The visit by the party of competition winners went off exactly according to the timetable. And the weather? Well, just perfect.

Heads were turning as motorists and bystanders watched the return of Midland Red to the roads of Solihull and Shirley on May Bank Holiday Sunday. The 'Solihull News' competition winners were picked up from The Square, Solihull; Stratford Road, and the Colebrook, Shirley, and then travelled on the BMMO D9 to the Transport Museum Wythall, where they spent nearly three hours.

As a bonus, the guests did the return trip in the BMMO S16. The single decker made it easier to travel along the more scenic return route of Wythall, Earlswood, and Hockley Heath to Solihull. The driver for the party was Kevin Hill with Malcolm Keeley as conductor.

As the competition had been about Midland Red, it was good that the competition winners were able to experience travel on two BMMO vehicles. A nice touch was that the route number showed 154 on both journeys, this route having been mentioned a number of times in the 'Solihull News' recently.
