Omnibus 188 - September 2008

DESTINATIONS

Many thanks again to Derek Potter for more blinds - this time a number of Coventry, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton Corporation examples. One of the Walsall ones will be fitted to 116 when its repaint is complete and will thus be a 'matching set'.

Grateful thanks are also extended to Phil Drake for answering the appeal in 'Omnibus' no.186 by supplying a Worcester 'B' (lower) blind, which is now fitted to Midland Red Fleetline 6015.

Other donations have been received from First at Worcester - these are comparatively modern blinds but still form part of our local bus history and many thanks to First for thinking of BaMMOT.

Last, but by no means least, Andy Hawthorn has donated a West Bromwich (WMPTE) lower blind from 1975.

CHATSWORTH CHAMP

The 1685 Group's ex-Birmingham Leyland Titan PD2 won its class at the recent Chatsworth rally. 1685 was a regular cup-winner when restored thirty years ago. The members recently completed a thorough restoration of the lower deck interior, including new moquette on the seats and side panels. Nowadays, 1685 is often the oldest double-decker at rallies it attends. "Tempus is fugiting" said Malcolm Keeley, demonstrating his dubious mastery of Latin.
