MISCELLANEOUS
QUOTE OF THE MONTH
Malcolm Keeley on return from a short trip out in 1107 hastily jumped in his car and left the site, with the comment "I'm just going in search of the windscreen wiper". He returned triumphantly clutching the missing item some time later.
REC’s RETURN?
Dave Taylor’s recent article about the Midland Red drawing archive mentioned a ‘Kirkstall Forge drawing of a proposed “rear axle for rear engine drive”, dated 1966. An innocent assumption might be that it was a replacement axle for the then current Daimler Fleetlines (DD11 etc.).
However, someone who examined the drawing archive shortly after it came into BaMMOT’s care suggests that further delving should eventually reveal plans for a single-decker with a power train “not unlike that of a Bristol RE”.
BUNDY ON THE BOX
Programme one of “What The Victorians Did For US”, the latest TV history series presented by Adam Hart-Davis, began with one of Willard Bundy’s original time-recording clocks.
AGM
BaMMOT’s Annual General; Meeting took place at the museum on Saturday 14 July 2001, attended by about one-sixth of total membership, a similar turnout to previous years. The most significant news not already mentioned in ‘Omnibus’ was the advanced plans for BaMMOT to acquire the freehold of the museum’s land. Minutes of the proceedings will be circulated to members.
