Omnibus 139 - January 2001

ENGINEERING REPORT

The S16 5545's MOT
The S16 5545 has undergone a pre-Class 6 MOT check. The engine was suffering with an oil leak from the sump so Dave Parry removed the sump, cleaned it up and resealed it. The rear differential also leaked so the same treatment was applied to this. Both rear sets of wheels have been off to carry out repairs to the brakes. The offside proved to be OK but the nearside need a new brake disk, pads and calipers. Nearside and offside wheel studs and nuts have also been renewed.

D9 5399 Clean Up
D9 5399 side adverts have started to peel badly so Dave and myself have started to work on them. The nearside advert has been removed and the space painted out in cream. Dave has prepared the bus for a Class 6 MOT due late February along with the S16 and Birmingham Guy 2976.

Work on 2976
2976 is currently undergoing a front-end brake realign. Mark Priest has stripped it down and the shoes have been sent away. Once this is done, Mark will carry out a pre-MOT with hopefully not much work to follow.

The Soudley Valley Tiger Cub Restoration
The Soudley Valley Tiger Cub interior restoration is well underway. All internal paintwork is now completed. New lino is on order and will be fitted on arrival. Alex, James and myself have fitted the nearside windows and the offside will be fitted as soon as we can get to it. The heaters have been stripped down, cleaned, tested and re-fitted so it should be nice and warm inside. Hopefully by next Omnibus the interior should be finished. All external lights are now working after Alex spent a weekend sorting out the wiring.
